New Year's Even Special PerformanceOn Saturday, December 31st, Patty Carpenter and the expanded Dysfunctional Family Jazz Band will be ushering in the new year and closing out the year long festivities for Guilford's 250th Anniversary with their own Funky Americana Jazz Gumbo. The dance party begins at 8PM at the Broad Brook Grange, Guilford Center Road, Guilford, VT. All ages are welcome, admission, food (from North End Butchers and Tristan Toleno) and beverages are free, with wine and champagne (from Windham Wines) available for sale. Dress up, wear a costume, or come as you are. Patty is bringing her Brooklyn based band back home for the holidays. The hard driving group includes daughter, Melissa Shetler, vocals; son, Travis Light, bass; ex-husband, Scott Shetler, sax, clarinet, mandolin; and his wife, Jill Gross, vocals. Rounding out the immediate family are Russ Meissner, drums; Paul Sullivan, guitar; Judd Nielsen, keyboard; Tony Hecht, guitar; and some special guests. Verandah Porche, who partnered with Patty on writing the 2010 CD release, Come Over, will join the group for a few numbers, including their new song, Waves in the Woods, about Hurricane Irene's devastating impact on Vermont.
